- Overpopulation in a country like Philippines brings with an increase rate in poverty. Extreme poverty in the Philippines was estimated at 20 percent of the population, based on the international poverty line of $1.25 per day

- About 17 percent of children and adults faced daily hunger, poverty and disease largely driven by inadequate access to nutritious food, lack of nutrition education, and poor health and sanitation services.
